“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.”
-Carl Jung
Lenora Lemke combines Life Coaching and Somatic Psychotherapy in a unique and powerful way. As a coach, she will help you create a clear vision of who you truly are and what you want in life, and will partner with you, empowering you to reach your full potential. She can help you not only change habits that aren't working for you, but life will become easier as you gain practical skills that you can take with you that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
Lenora has a deep understanding of human nature and the resistance that sometimes comes up when we are trying to move towards our goals, and can help you move through any of those blocks. She does not view a psychological block/symptom as a “problem” but rather as an important survival mechanism that has likely been helpful in getting you through difficult situations in the past. She works with an open heart and will deeply listen to you. Using an eclectic approach, she will adjust her style based on your individual needs. Her coaching methods have been influenced by NLP, Mindfulness, and an understanding of Cognitive Behavioral, Somatic, Humanistic, and Transpersonal Psychology.
In addition to Life Coaching, Lenora is also a therapist who has used a Somatic (body centered) approach from the very beginning - since she initially started working as a therapist. She has a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, with an emphasis in Somatic Psychotherapy. She is also a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Other psychotherapy methods Lenora uses include: Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Family Systems, Sensorimotor techniques, Somatic Experiencing techniques, and Redecision Therapy. Somatic therapy offers an integrated understanding of the mind and body. Lenora believes it's important to include the mind-body connection when reaching for one's goals and in one's path toward personal growth. For example, we use the Cortex of the brain to prepare us for the future; our Limbic brain tells us about our emotions and about the past; and The Body tells us about the present (the here and now). There is much wisdom to be gained in listening to our instinctive knowledge that can be felt in the present moment in our bodies.
Was there ever a time in your life when you felt that you knew that something was right for you? Was it a new job? Was it when you met your future life partner? Was it when you discovered you had a gift in something? Think of a time when every cell of your body knew that there was something big happening, and that it was right. Your bodily senses were heightened and there was a feeling of aliveness. There may not have been any rational explanation for it, but you trusted it. You had a feeling of knowing.
Our bodies and spirits can physically communicate with us. Lenora can help you become more in touch with this kind of communication from your body. This is called somatic awareness or mindfulness, which is an important key to physical and emotional wellness and spiritual growth. Lenora believes that with this knowledge, anyone can heal. When you become more aware of your body, it will help you stay in the present moment where you can quickly sense what your body and spirit need in a certain situation, what your emotional state is, and what will or will not work for you in taking action. Many of us go about in life unconsciously reacting to things that happen to us. However, if you increase your somatic awareness to help you become more conscious of what you're doing and how you're reacting in life, you'll have more choice in how you respond and what actions you can take.
Lenora has helped people find a sense of fulfillment in their relationships, work, and in their communities. She has helped individuals, couples and families overcome difficulties including high stress, feelings of overwhelm, relationship & communication issues, trauma, anxiety and depression, and many health issues including digestive problems, arthritis, sleep disorders, etc. Her client's life coaching goals include anything from getting a new job, to improving interactions with friends/family, to simply enjoying life more. Those who have worked with her often say they've gained a sense of purpose and a feeling of vitality.
If you work with Lenora, you will know that you are working with someone who truly cares about you and will do whatever it takes to help you reach your goals. She will treat you with respect and she believes that only you can know what is best for you. She will partner with you, encourage you, challenge you, and empower you as you move toward a healthy, fulfilling life.
