Somatic skills and mindfulness group
New group starting February 4, 2025, although new participants can join anytime. You will learn somatic skills, mindfulness techniques, and specific movement exercises, which can be used to increase your awareness and to help you feel more grounded and embodied. You will also learn how to connect with your “True Self”, and the peace and wisdom that come with it. The Internal Family Systems (IFS) model will be used to help us increase our understanding of the complexity of our inner world, and to foster self-compassion. In each session, a new somatic/mindfulness skill will be introduced. With playful curiosity, we will try the new skill (sometimes individually and sometimes in groups), and then we will share our experiences related to the exercise. In addition to learning to increase our somatic awareness, you will also learn somatic techniques used in the following modalities: Gestalt, Sensorimotor, Brainspotting, Hakomi, Somatic Experiencing, etc.
This will be an ongoing group that meets weekly on Tuesdays at 9:00 AM. New participants can join anytime after meeting with facilitator. Please call or email (see contact info below) to set up a free 15-minute consultation.

Mindful Eating for Weight Loss Group
New group starting February 13, 2025, although new participants can join anytime. The focus of this group is to increase mindful awareness around food, learn to trust our bodies, and improve our relationship with food. We will be using Mindfulness techniques, Somatic awareness, and IFS (Internal Family Systems) to help us become aware of our inner conflicts around food, and to tap into our body’s intuitive wisdom. Once our underlying (often unconscious) needs/emotions are addressed, we will no longer have the same unconscious needs for food as a coping mechanism and can more easily eat in ways that feel healthy and nurturing for our bodies. Support will also be given (as needed) to each participant regarding self-determined exercise and nutrition goals, and in building healthy lifestyle habits. In addition, each participant will have the opportunity to share their experiences and insights in each session. If interested, participants can also meet before/after each group session to go for a walk as an enjoyable way to get some exercise and build community. This group is appropriate for people who are ready to do internal work in a group setting, though this group may not be appropriate for people with active eating disorders.
